Community Impact

Father and sonCommunity impact is about creating lasting change by mobilizing people, time, talent, relationships, expertise, technology, financial assets and other resources in the community. By changing the conditions that are creating multiple problems for individuals and families, we can improve the lives of program clients as well as that of entire community populations. To accomplish this, United Way is focused on education, income and health—the building blocks of a good life. These three areas impact everything we do: a good education leads to a stable job, with an income that will support a family through retirement; but if we are not in good health we cannot fully reach our potential, no matter what else we have. By helping children and youth achieve their potential, promoting financial stability and independence and improving health for all, United Way is advancing the common good for all SLO County residents. United Way Worldwide has similarly set forth a challenge to make measurable strides in the areas of education, income and health in the next 10 years.
